In the spring of 2017, my life was in major flux. I had just finished an AmeriCorps year of service and was preparing to move across the country back to my hometown. I was also in therapy for long-untreated anxiety and depression. I felt like a living work-in-progress.
Meanwhile, I was creating work for a group show as a part of Fremont Abbey Arts' NEXT STAGE program for young artists.
This series feels like an apt representation for my life at the time of their creation. I was stretching and growing in different ways to survive and attempt to thrive in the different environments I inhabited at the time: work, art, home, and myself. These videos were projected behind singer/songwriter Anna Freedman as she performed her songs "Square One" and "Can't Stop Myself," songs with strong themes surrounding growth.
